Notes: Joan of Arc was just a teenager when she led a French army against the English in France. She was burnt at the stake by the English in 1431, and was created a saint early in the 20th century. She remains a well-known heroine among the French to this day, whereas in England she is now little remembered. The towns represented on the reverse were where significant events in her short life occurred (not least her death in Rouen).
