George III (1760-1820), Bank of England Dollar of 5-Shillings 1804, struck over a Spanish-American 8-Reales (S 3768)

Good very fine

Price £350

Notes: these were overstruck on Latin American 8-Reales as an emergency measure to counter the shortage of silver. The engraver was Conrad Kuchler of Matthew Boulton's Soho Mint. This coin is better than the photograph might suggest.
