Condition: almost extremely fine, slight wear to highpoints, mild verdigris in parts of reverse, a small suspension loop added later; Diameter: 73mm

Notes: Until the government began issuing awards for saving life at sea (starting with the Sea Gallantry Medal of 1841), many organisations issued private medals, including the famous shipping insurers Lloyds of London.
