Obv: poultry, horse, cattle, pig in field before half-timbered farmhouse, church spire in distance

Rev: a plough at the base of a corn wreath, FARNWORTH AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY ESTABLISHED 1865 around, engraved in central field AWARDED TO J.A.LAWTON & Co. FOR COLLECTION OF CARRIAGES 1884


Condition: Good extremely fine, probably onetime lightly cleaned; Diameter: 54mm

Notes: Farnworth is now part of Widnes. Farnworth Agricultural Society annual show was a successor to the local October "wakes" which ended in 1863. The agricultural show ended in 1914 at the onset of war. As an agricultural medal this is quite rare. Although unsigned, the medallist is almost certainly Thomas Ottley.
