Condition: Extremely fine; Diameter: 64mm Notes: On 15th July 1240 a small army under command of 19-year old Prince Alexander defeated an invading Swedish army. This earned him the nickname 'Nevsky' meaning of the Neva. In 1710 Peter the Great founded the monastery shown on the medal's reverse to house the prince's relics. This medal was probably struck in 1990 for the 750th anniversary.
