Condition: extremely fine; Diameter: 53mm References: BHM 1238; Cochran-Patrick 120/64 Notes: Sir Walter Scott (1771-1832), Scottish romantic novelist and poet. His most famous works are probably Waverley and Rob Roy. In later years he struggled to repay debts of £130,000, and this may have hastened his demise. The reverse legend is a quotation from Scott - it is how he described his historical fiction.
