Obv: laureate and capped head of Marianne right below an oak tree, RÉPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE around

 

Rev: male figure holding a torch, seated on winged figure of Victory, view of Exposition pavillion below, and tablet with recipient's name (GARNIER-THIÉBAUT FRÈRES)

 

 

Condition: About extremely fine; Diameter: 63mm

Notes: Garnier-Thiébaut Frères were established in 1833 as linen manufacturers in the Vosges region of eastern France and are still in business. It is very rare to find one of these medals with its original case.
