Rev: three shields below grasshopper within oak and laurel wreath, FIRST STONE LAID BY H.R.H. PRINCE ALBERT JANY 17 1842 around

Condition: Extremely fine, some minor marks in obverse field; Diameter: 28mm

 

 

Notes: 1500 silver medals were issued; the shields of arms on the reverse are those of the City of London, the Mercers’ Company and Sir Thomas Gresham. Gold specimens and a further 200 silver specimens were given to guests at the dinner during the opening.
